BT Taps SevOne For Greater Visibility Into Its Managed Services

British telecommunications provider BT tapped SevOne’s Data Platform for performance management. The provider will leverage SevOne to provide monitoring and reporting capabilities to its service teams to resolve issues on customer networks.

The SevOne Data Platform is a cloud-based platform that collects heterogenous raw data and turns it into insights. It provides a collection and analysis of infrastructure and network metrics by integrating this analysis with flow, log, and user experience data on the platform. The platform is meant to help enterprises maintain visibility over technologies like NFV, SDN, and SD-WAN.

According to Hriday Ravindranath, the chief technology and information officer at BT Global Services, the implementation of SevOne is the next step in its Dynamic Network Service program. This program is meant to provide BT customers with more choice, security, resilience, service, and agility as they deploy next-generation technologies.

BT intends to use the SevOne platform to provide a single performance monitoring and reporting service for all of its offered products and services. Ravindranath said that the telecommunications provider selected SevOne for its use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).

The Data Platform introduces “a concept of Dynamic Baselining, in which it self-manages the network without us having to define thresholds manually,” said Ravindranath. “It self-guides to understand what normal behavior is and what it isn’t based on historic trends.” He continued that the benefit to both BT and its customers is an enhanced understanding of what’s happening with applications and data as they cross customers’ networks.

In addition, the machine learning capabilities utilize predictive modelling adding a new level of visibility and control by enabling fault domain isolation across fragmented infrastructures — which can help BT’s customers optimize the performance of their systems and architectures.
